9.25.05 - Environmetal Awareness Article.  Mash Contest.

- The Videos Section Has Been Re-done and Has Tons of Videos! More Still To Come!!!

Check out this good article about Green Day and environmental awareness.  Head over here to enter the Green Day Mash Contest.  You have to "mash" BOBD and Holiday and you can win $2500, a trip to the LA show, watch Green Day warm up at the sound check party, and hear you mash played over the soundsystem.  I think that's pretty much it.. sorry for the late update.  Definitely check out the new video page and, of course, if there are any problems, contact us.

How can anyone forget the tragedies that occurred four years ago on this day : September 11, 2001. It is so sad to think about how many innocent people died on this day. Four years ago, four American airplanes full of people were hijacked by terrorists. Two of the planes crashed into the Twin Tower Trade Centers in New York (seen to the left) causing them to have a brief explosion and collapse. Another plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC, and the final airplane crashed on the ground in Pennsylvania after the brave passengers took control of the situation and made the airplane crash before anything worse (said to be aiming for the White House) could happen. These tragedies are forever imprinted in all Americans and beyond. Please take the time to remember those who were lost at 9-11 and their families who are now without them. DO NOT let them get out of your minds, hearts, and prayers... God bless all of those innocent people who died on this day four years ago...

09.10.05 - Green Day In No Rush. Katrina Concert. Viewer Advisory.

- Hello all my fellow Green Dayians! Can you believe that "American Idiot" is has gone QUADRUPLE PLATINUM! I think that that is absolutely amazing and I really hope Green Days' next album will be even better!

- Speaking of the new album, Green Day won't rush into it. With Green Day's promotional efforts for American Idiot coming to an end later this autumn, fans are starting to wonder about the band's next album. Bassist Mike Dirnt told us that the trio has started thinking about it, but won't rush to put something out before it's ready : "We got a bunch of great ideas in the pipeline right now. The best thing I think we can do after this record is not rush anything out but just take our time, and if it comes out fast, great, if it doesn't, y'know, let the record come out when it's ready." Although we are going to have to wait, this is going to be a good thing. Green Day took their time with "American Idiot" and look what we have : an amazing album!

- Don't miss the Katrina Relief Concert on MTV, Vh1, and CMT : Green Day will be playing for the concert. It airs LIVE from 8pm - 11pm (EST.)

09.08.05 - Nutter Center. Sports Illustrated. Yahoo. German Guitar.

For those of you who were going to go to the August 14th show at the Nutter Center, go here for information about the rescheduled show on October 13th.  Sports Illustrated recently interviewed Billie Joe about sports, check it out here.  Be on the lookout for a Yahoo (or maybe Verizon?) commercial featuring animated Green Day playing Holiday, it's pretty funny.  Also, if you're German, you can win a free guitar here!  Also, Kevin added some new Fan Fiction and a John Kiffmeyer biography.  We have a new, Fan Music page for those of you who want to submit Green Day covers or original music.

09.06.05 - New Affiliate. Adopt-A-Song. Kick Off/Hurricane. VMAs.

Woo - it is great to finally be back! It felt like the site was down FOREVER! Holly and I are trying to get back into gear - so again - PLEASE bear with us if we are a bit slow with things. We have a new affiliate : Green Day Video: check it out -- there are lots of awesome Green Day videos and performances. You now have a chance to adopt 10 more songs - so hurry and go over to Adopt-A-Song! Green Day will be performing at the NFL Kickoff on ABC 9/8 at 5:00pm as well as for the Hurricane Katrina Benefit Relief live on 9/10 on MTV, Vh1, and CMT. We wish everyone who are experiencing troubles due to the hurricane the best of luck. I know this is old news, but Green Day won 7 out of 8 VMA's 2 weeks ago! They won the big ones : Video of the Year and Viewers' Choice as well as several others. I am very happy for Green Day : they really deserved the awards! Great job to everyone who voted for Green Day for the Viewers' Choice! That's about all the news I have for you all today! Bye! :)

09.05.05 - WE'RE BACK!

After being down for two and a half weeks, the site is finally back up.  We apologize for being gone so long, we were having problems with our web host and I had so much trouble contacting them.  Thankfully we didn't lose anything, Kevin and I were afraid of having to start over and if we'd even be able to with school starting now.  So, since we made you guys wait so long, we have a ton of new things for you planned.  In the meantime, please bear with us while we get everything back together!  Thanks to everyone who was there to let us know of the problem and to support us on the way. :)

Also, the mp3's are going to be gone for a little while we work on some copyright issues... sorry!

08.16.05 - Best Gig. Concert Cancelled. TCA. VMA's. TRL.

Sorry for not updating yesterday! I was having internet problems - everything should be all set now! Well I have quite a bit of news for you all! Green Days big gigs at the Milton Keynes Bowl earlier this year was voted the greatest gig of all time by Kerrang magazine readers this week. Theyve beaten the likes of Slipknot, Metallica and the Foo Fighters to become top of the list. Also in the countdown was August 29th 2004 at the Reading Festival at #21 and the famous nativity gig December 21st 1991 at The Den in Wigan at #86 out of of the 100 voted for. Thanks for Cara B. for letting us know! The Dayton concert was cancelled because Billie is having throat problems. He just needs a night or two off to get his throat back so he can put on a great show. He was not sent to the hospital, as well. Thanks to Leah O. for the info. We wish Billie a speedy recovery - the concert has been rescheduled to September 13th - so save your tickets if you were supposed to go! Green Day won "Choice Music Rock Track" with "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" on the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday the show will be aired tonight at 8pm EST on FOX. Make sure you go over and vote for Green Day for the MTV VMA's here or in turbo vote! "Wake Me Up When September Ends" was #3 yesterday on TRL but jumped back to #1  today! Keep on voting over here and keep them at #1 where they belong! That's about all the news for today! Make sure you vote for Green Day! Alrighty, bye for now!

08.14.05 - Fuse Marathon.  Rockzilla.

Fuse is having a 10 hour Green Day marathon today starting at 1 pm!  Green Day won Best Live Show, Best Drag Queen (Tre Cool), and Best Guy You Would Invite For Dinner (Billie Joe) on Fuse's Rockzilla.  Kerrang showed a countdown of the Greatest 100 American Headbangers, Green Day entered at #100 with When I Come Around, and they also got the #1 spot with American Idiot.  I think that's all for the news.  I'll be away for a week, going to Peru.  I should be back Friday or Saturday.  In the meantime, Kevin will be here to take care of the site!

08.13.05 - WMUWSE on TRL. Adopt A Song.

It only took two days after the "Wake Me Up When September Ends" video premiere for it to shoot over to #1 on MTV's TRL! In other words, yesterday (Friday), "WMUWSE" went from #4 to #1! The video really deserves this attention and praise so keep on voting for it over here! Lets keep it at #1 for a VERY long time! :) Due to the HUGE success of the Adopt-A-Song page, I decided to post 5 more songs up for adoption - go adopt them before they're taken! Next week, however, there will be only 5 - so dont get used to 10 songs each week! ;) Ok! That's all for today - I hope you guys enjoyed all the stuff we added for the anniversary! Bye!

08.12.05 - Four Years of Green!

I am proud to be working for 1039 Sweet Children on its FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Holly has been working on 1039SC since way back in the summer of 2001! I have just joined the website back in May, but I am truly proud of what the website has become... We thank all of you for your support throughout 1039SC's time line and we hope to grow even more as time progresses! In celebration of the 4 year anniversary we have lots of good stuff for you all! You can now ADOPT SONGS, send in FAN ART and FAN FICTION, answer the new VIEWER ADVISORY, or look extra Green Day-ish with ICONS and AVATARS! We hope you enjoy all of the things we have made for you all... We are very thankful for each and everyone of our visitors! Keep on spreading the word and enjoying the site : we don't plan on slowing down anytime soon! Four more years! Four more years! Wow - I'm pathetic : haha... OK! Enjoy all the new stuff!!! :) (And by the way, Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" debuted on MTV's TRL yesterday at #4 - keep on voting here!)

Milton Keynes DVD Update! : The Green Day Live in Milton Keynes DVD (now titled "Heart Like A Hand Grenade") will be released on November 11th... I thought that this was great news and should be posted -- I will surely be getting it! :)

Note from Holly:  I did not get a chance to update today and I know it's late, but it's better than no update at all.  I would just like to say that I cannot believe how far this site has come in four years.  I honestly never intended for it to grow like this.  I would especially like to thank Kevin for being the best co-webmaster anyone could have.  This site would be closed and not even half the size it is now if it wasn't for him pushing me and encouraging me to keep it up, to make me recognize it's potential.  Thanks to Gina, Amanda, and Magz for helping out and being our biggest fans!  I certainly hope this site keeps growing at the pace it is now and stays up for many more years.  :)

08.10.05 - NFL Kick-off. WMUWSE Premiere. FOTW. Anniversary.

Green Day will be performing for the NFL kick off on 9/8/05 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. Kick off will be televised on ABC.  Check your local listings for broadcast time in your area.  Also, don't forget the WMUWSE video is premiering today on MTV's TRL at 2 pm!  We have 12th FOTW, Amanda!  Congratulations to one of our biggest fans!  Kevin and I are working very hard to get everything in order for Friday!  I think everyone will love all the new stuff we'll have.

08.08.05 - 4 Years on Friday. New Site Stuff.

Hey everyone! I wanted to let you all know that us here will be celebrating the FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY of 1039SC on this Friday, August 12th! In celebration, we are going to add tons of stuff for you all! Holly and I are very thankful for the recent success of 1039SC and we hope we keep on growing! If you didn't notice, we added a marquee scroll bar beneath the top banner that show upcoming events of the coming week - we hope you enjoy this feature (it will keep you up to date on lots of important dates!) :) We also added a "Send In News" feature (click the link next to the comments) of which you can send in some Green Day news that you think we should post! About GD news, there isn't much today so I will remind you all that AOL Music will be premiering the "WMUWSE" video today, so check it out! Alrighty, that's it for today! :-D

08.03.05 - "WMUWSE" USA Premiere. Lookout!. FOTW.

Sorry for not updating in a while! The only way to explain it is pure laziness... I'll try to prevent that from happening again! I have good news for you fans in the USA that haven't seen the Wake Me Up When September Ends music video. It will be premiering next Tuesday, August 9th, on MTV 2 (probably all day as part of New Videos Unleashed.) Don't have MTV 2? It will also be premiering on VH1 at 9:00PM (EST) that same day. It will also be premiering the next day, August 10th, on MTV's TRL (which starts at 2PM EST.) Make sure you guys mark those dates : don't forget! According to PunkNews.org, Green Day are pulling their albums from Lookout! Records! Due to concerns over unpaid royalties, Green Day has pulled their catalog from Lookout!. The long-running Berkeley-based label played host to both 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk! for the past decade, and also reissued a re-mastered version of 1039/SOSH. Lookout! Records.com later posted an article stating "Green Day are an incredible force in music and Lookout Records is proud to have been their first home. Despite any rumors or conjecture to the contrary, Lookout and Green Day's long relationship has always been based on trust, friendship and partnership and those bonds remain shared between the label and the band now and into the future."
