1,039 Sweet Children Fan of the Week
Saturday, October 8th, 2005
Name?
Tyler Owen
Age?
14 years old
Location?
Peoria, IL
Sex: Male / Female?
Male
How long have you been a Green Day fan?
Since mid-2001 when my buddy,
Luke, and I were learning guitar. We were going through his CD collection for
something to learn, and we threw in a green CD that looked like a clock. It just
happened to be "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours."
What song do you like best? Why?
Although I'm a huge fan of their old stuff, I'm in love with the song, "Whatsername," because it's so advanced musically, making it a joy to listen to and play on all three instruments (guitar, bass, drums).
What is Green Day's best album?
American Idiot. By far. Their
sense of music and not sticking to the traditional
Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus style separated them from everybody
else. AI may be their best, but my favorite is Kerplunk! because it displays a
sense of growing up as a teenager, but yet growing up as an adult in the same
perspective.
What is the craziest thing you'd do to meet Green Day?
The first thing that came to Tré's
mind.
What Green Day tour(s) have you gone to?
The American Idiot 2005
Spring/Summer Tour when it came to Peoria. Green Day said that it was the first
time they'd ever been in Peoria, and Luke and I got tickets the day before they
went out on sale because his dad is a VIP at the Peoria Civic Center.
Who is your favorite member? Why?
Tré because he couldn't care less
of what other people think and he'll do whatever he feels like doing. And he
writes the best songs.
If Billie Joe was to give you advice on anything, what would you want him to
tell you?
I'd want him to teach me
everything he knows about the music business, being a musician, and the secret
to keeping sane while touring with the same people for 16+ years.
Finally, describe Green Day with ONE word.
Is there really ONE word that could describe the glory that is Green Day?
